For a close-knit active community, don’t miss Franklin homes. The city is around 20 miles south of Bowling Green and just north of the Tennessee border. It has a great location for commuters, but the local business community is very active as well. The Franklin Simpson Chamber of Commerce supports city business owners through advertising, gift certificates, and a discount program in partnership through Office Depot. The chamber also offers seminars throughout the year designed to help business owners with development, communication, and their Internet presence.
Local schools offer kids from Franklin homes a good education. Academics are strong, and parents appreciate caring teachers and good communication between school administration and home. There are also a couple of excellent private and parochial schools, giving families plenty of choices.
Franklin real estate owners find lots of outdoor fun. Jess and Mabel Bradley Community Park has a fun playground for younger kids. Franklin Simpson Park and Rec and Jim Roberts Community Park have a number of facilities. There are baseball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer, basketball courts, and a disc golf course. It’s also a great place for a walk and a picnic. Golfers enjoy Kenny Perry’s Country Creek Golf Course. The course was designed by Kenny Perry, a veteran of the PGA Tour. Rates are very affordable, and the course is situated among the hills and woods of Franklin.
The city hosts many community events throughout the year. The Cherry Blossom Art and Music Festival is held in April. Visitors enjoy hands-on art activities, as well as meeting local artists and getting to know their work at the many booths at the festival. September is the month for live horse races at Kentucky Downs. In early December, everyone gets together for the annual Christmas Parade. Downtown merchants host an open house in December, too, with special sales and refreshments.
